2nd Place Qualitative Trophy!
GMCHE Roll Call - Thursday Night
Roll call is a 45 second introduction to your school. It needs to contain some very basic information and is supposed to be funny. Going with our "Meet the Robinsons" theme (which we thought pertained well to the state convention theme of "Our success is only limited by our imagination"), we had Lewis and the Bowler Hat guy introduce our team:
Our "Meet the Robinsons" contingent after roll call.

We'll find out today how we scored on roll call and many other things.

Certamen Level 1 Finalists! (Friday Night)
We Interrupt Our Attempts at Updating You to Give You an Update
We just found out quite suddenly that our level 1 team, unbeknownst to us, made it to the certamen finals. We may not even get our door decorated in time for that contest because everyone just ran off to cheer on their team.
First Report
Salvete Omnes!
I know this is a little tardy and I can't post pictures yet. We're all doing great and are very excited about our strong delegation. After competing as a "small school" in previous years, we discovered to our surprise that we now rank as a medium-sized school. We learned this when they announced us as the winner of this morning's spirit competition among the medium-sized schools.
Lots of pictures coming soon. We're heading off to certamen competitions (we're competing at levels I, II and IV) and the war machines contest in just a bit.

Last Night's Meeting
Last night's meeting was wonderful. We had a great crowd. The evening began with the prayer, "Veni, Sancte Spiritus." Next we had the song/round "Pauper Sum Ego," a student commercium from the middle ages. After that, Certamen, a game show type contest about Roman and Greek language, culture and history. Team C, captained by N.G., won.
Following that there was the presentation of the awards from the Wisconsin Junior Classical League convention in January. We won first place in Spirit for small schools. We also won first in the war machine contest, the men's costume contest, and the drawing contest. We won various individual ribbons for the twelve subject tests that the delegates participated in. It was a nice celebration of our accomplishments.
In the business part of the meeting we began with voting on amendments to the bylaws. The revised bylaws will be posted soon. Next, the president's report and valediction, the treasurer's report and the moderator's report.
Finally, we had the elections. After wonderful speeches--the best in club history--we elected the following: for the Triumvirate; M. B.--president, M. Z.--vice president, P. F.--Secretary/treasurer: for the non-executive officers; K. M.--historian, E.Z.--technology coordinator.
Finally, we had the cake prepared by K.M. in celebration of a wonderful year full of fun and accomplishments and in celebration of the new things to come under the new administration. And, as M.B. said in her speech (or something like it), Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!

Upcoming meeting
From the Triumvirate:
Salve!
The October Latin club meeting will be held on October 16th at the Van Hecke's house from 6:30 to 8 pm. We're going to play Certamen for Roman history and Latin grammar, so your warned to study up on that, but don't stress over it. We're also doing a skit. We need someone to bring a Roman like snack for this meeting. So if you could do it, please e-mail me. Also, I've been told to remind you to bring the dues for the Latin club ($10) to this meeting, if you can.
RSVP to the Gotcher's at (414)427-6972 and hope to see you there!!
Semper Fidelis,
Kate Mantyh
P.S. We're aiming to have the meetings this year on either the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday. Novembers' meeting will be on the 13th or the 20th. Please e-mail me and tell me if you could make it on one of those dates. Thanks!
